If you've ever thought about crocheting items for local charities, you're in the right place! Members of the Eastern Iowa Crochet Guild have found several Cedar Rapids organizations that accept crocheted items. Hospitals, schools, shelters, and other nonprofit organizations welcome cozy accessories, blankets, toys, and other items that provide comfort and warmth.

Cedar Rapids organizations accept crocheted items include the hospitals, some school district clothing closets, food pantries, shelters, and more. Some organizations may also accept donated yarn.
Service is one of the missions of the Eastern Iowa Crochet Guild, and members can participate in group service projects. Some of our members have crocheted red scarves for foster families, baby hats or blankets for the local hospitals, and granny squares for a charity auction. We are also discussing plastic sleeping mats for unhoused individuals.

Check back later for more information and pictures on the Granny Square Blanket crocheted and donated by our Guild members and members of the Cedar Rapids Knitting and Crochet Group. This was donated for Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival 2026 Silent Auction.
Granny squares were crocheted by members of the Guild and Cedar Rapids Knitting and Crochet Facebook group. Squares were joined together by Dede, Guild member and who serves on the Board of the Freedom Festival.
